Digital X-ray

Makana North Shore Urgent Care offers an x-ray lab on site with immediate interpretation by physicians who then can diagnose and treat injuries and illnesses from broken bones to pneumonia.

Instead of going to an ER or waiting for a referral from your doctor to obtain an x-ray, our on-site medical specialist and certified x-ray-technician will perform the x-ray study for your convenience. This will allow us to rapidly diagnose your illness or injury during your visit to our clinic. In addition to musculoskeletal x-ray imaging, we also offer other digital x-rays to assist in diagnosing other illnesses and conditions including pneumonia.

The accuracy of our x-rays is important to us to best serve you and ensure proper diagnosis. In addition to being read by our on-site medical specialist, all of our digital x-rays are also interpreted by a board-certified radiologist who will provide a formal radiology report for you. At your request, we can also provide the digital images for your files or for you to take to your primary care physician. Everything is done in one visit, so you can save time and you can heal faster.

  • Sports Physicals

A sports physical is not the same as a regular physical; a sports physical assesses the health and fitness of an individual in relation to a particular sport they want to play. A physical examination by a physician is required for high school athletics in Hawaii.

A sports physical is often called a pre-participation physical. The athlete is examined to identify any high-risk disorder or condition that might affect an athlete’s ability to safely play. The sports physical varies among providers, but the goals of the exam are generally the same. The purpose of a sports physical is to gain an understanding of the following factors:

  • Medical history
  • Physical maturity
  • Any existing injuries
  • Current fitness level
  • Conditions that might increase risk of injury

  • Makana North Shore Urgent Care has EKG equipment for heart monitoring and digital x-ray technology to evaluate sprains, broken bones, and back pain. We can also use our on-site labs for drug and alcohol testing. These tests have no additional cost for an outside lab, and the results come back quicker. Saving you money is important, which is why we keep physicals affordable.

The most frequent sports injury is an Ankle Sprain.

We are open for your walk-in physical exam at your convenience - weekdays, weekends, and holidays so you can bring your children and teens in for school, camp, and sports physicals. Once you’re here, our on-site labs, X-rays, and testing services can provide most everything you need at one convenient stop. It used to be that students were only required to get a physical exam when entering kindergarten. The new law requires students entering 7th grade to get a physical as well.
